4 Factors To Consider Before Choosing A Mobile Broadband Provider
Mobile broadband providers like to use a lot of technical jargon, so here in simple English is a list of 4 essential factors to consider before choosing who to sign up with.
1. Coverage
First thing to do is visit the mobile broadband site and see if it covers your area with the fastest speed. 3G is faster than EDGE. With 3G you can download at speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. EDGE gives you speed of about 400 Kbps.
2. Bandwidth Allowance
Ranging from 1GB to 5GB of download a month, decide how much you need and if the mobile broadband company provides it at a reasonable monthly price. For checking email and general browsing 1GB should be fine, but if you visit video websites a lot, go for more. Be sure to check how much it will cost for each MB of download if you pass the monthly limit.
3. Duration of Contract
If you only plan to use the internet sparingly, sign up with a pay-as-you-go plan. Otherwise choose a 12 month plan over a 24 month plan unless the longer contract gives you some extra perks. If problems occur during a 12 month contract, at least you will be able to opt out at the end of the year.
4. Modem/Adapter Cost
Consider the cost of the modem or adapter before signing up for a mobile broadband plan. Some include the USB modem free, and others will allow you to buy at a discount for signing up.
